The SSP team was in the studio this week shooting a television show with our all-Western Sydney crew made up of students, graduates and alumni from WSU. It was great to be back at Parramatta campus, in our element and at the helm of the studio like good ol' times. We feel so privileged to be surrounded by such talented local filmmakers that is a real joy to share their stories on the big screen every year. The community of filmmakers that we celebrate are dedicated, creative and very ambitious. Being in the crowd last Saturday at the festival was just electric, and for SSP, having hundreds of filmmakers in the room cheering for each other’s work was, without a doubt, the best part of the night (and a very large part of WHY we do what we do). We had a BRILLIANT time last night – 2018 was definitely our best festival yet, with records broken all round. We received over 50 submissions this year from filmmakers across Western Sydney and the quality and variety of content has been the best we’ve ever seen. In 2018, Made in the West Film Festival will feature 14 short films made by filmmakers from right across Western Sydney; from Fairfield to Telopea, and Kellyville to Campbelltown. While the films may differ in genre and type, they all share one thing in common: they each feature a cast member, crew member or location from Western Sydney. And we think that’s pretty awesome!
