COUNTDOWN to the Festival!

We’ve got exactly three weeks until we roll out the red carpet and Made in the West Film Festival returns to Event Cinemas in Liverpool for one HUGE night of films in TWO V-max cinemas. Join us at one of our two exclusive screenings on Saturday 21 November to celebrate Western Sydney Film on the big screen!

Made in the West LOVES celebrating on the red carpet each year and this year we’re turning up the volume to party in style because we’ve got the whole WEST WING to ourselves! Two huge V-max cinemas and a private cocktail bar in the foyer for the VIP Awards Night at 7pm and our first ever Made in the West Marathon kicking off at 8pm.

Tickets are FREE to our in-cinema events but very limited as we’ve only got 150 seats up for grabs at each screening. We're planning a Covid-safe event and that means we have limited capacity. Priority tickets go to the filmmakers who entered a film this year and of course, the cast & crew of the films that are screening in the festival. Tickets for the in-cinema events open in ten days!

For those of you who can’t join us at the in-cinema events this year (or those who just prefer to party at home now!) WE’RE BRINGING THE RED CARPET TO YOU one week later in a mammoth 3-hour festival event that you can enjoy from the comfort of your own couch.

Reserve your $5 ticket for the online festival on Saturday 28 November and strap in for a full night of films and festival highlights with our festival hosts, filmmaker interviews and all the red carpet action from the biggest night of the year for the Western Sydney film scene. Tickets go on sale this week!

No matter which seat you’re enjoying Made in the West from this year, we hope you’ll have some good friends, your favourite beverage and a bucket of popcorn to sit back and enjoy the show, because you’re in for a treat!! This year’s films are fantastic and as always, they’re a surprising mix of gut-punching action and genre films, web series episodes, music videos, animation and documentary.

*Before we forget, let us give you our usual reminder that Made in the West is an R18+ event. Many of the films will contain mature content and this means that all of the usual things (including L,S,A,D,V) will probably make an appearance at some point throughout the show. Sorry kids, this one’s for the grown-ups only!

So… What happens next, you ask?

JUDGING IS UNDERWAY: Our judges are working hard for us right now and their scores have started coming in! We’re so impressed with the panel of judges we’ve put together this year -- all nine of our judges are amazing filmmakers themselves and we think they are wonderful success stories of the Western Sydney film industry. We‘ve already heard that they are loving your films, so congratulations everyone!

FINALISTS ANNOUNCED SOON: We're announcing the 2020 finalists this Monday! We're expecting to announce almost twice the number of finalists we've ever been able to feature at the festival in previous years, and that's all thanks to the double cinema screening we've got going on at Event Cinemas this year. ALL finalists will screen at our first-ever online festival on Saturday 28 November!

ONLINE FESTIVAL TICKETS OPEN SOON: Tune in for our mammoth online festival event on Saturday 28 November featuring all of the awesome short films, red carpet highlights, interviews with filmmakers, and gala awards. Host a private watch party and share pics of you and your friends enjoying the show! Cast your vote for your favourite film and when we tally the final votes we’ll announce which finalist will be honoured with our new People’s Choice Award! Tickets are $5 (+booking fee) for the full show and they go on sale this week!

OFFICIAL SELECTION AWARD NOMINEES: We’ll announce the nominations for our individual category awards next week! This year’s filmmakers are up for a swag of filmmaker prizes and all the accolades that come with winning the Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor, Best Sound Design, Best Original Score, Best Actress or Best Actor awards at Made in the West 2020. All eight individual category prizes will be awarded at the VIP Awards Night commencing 7pm on Saturday 21 November.

RED CARPET: Join us at Event Cinemas Liverpool on Saturday 21 November because we’re rolling out the red carpet to celebrate another year of Western Sydney films! Gather your cast & crew for a photo memento of the night when you arrive and watch during intermission as our TV camera crew interviews some of our finalists on the red carpet. We’ll share all the red carpet highlights with our online festival audience one week later!

VIP AWARDS NIGHT: This premiere screening on Saturday 21 November kicks off at 6.30pm showcasing the 2020 Official Selection line-up and festival awards presentations, complete with VIP after party. Our MC Laura B will be on the mic hosting the show and we’ve got cocktails and hot food available throughout the night plus a VIP bar inside the cinema for our filmmakers. Tickets are FREE and exclusive to 2020 entrants, finalists, sponsors, judges and VIPs only.

MADE IN THE WEST MARATHON: Join us at 7.30pm on Saturday 21 November for a short film marathon like no other! Hosted by Roscoe from The Pagey Train podcast and jam-packed with Western Sydney-made short films, this bumper 2.5 hour line-up will keep you and your pals laughing all night. With a private in-cinema bar for drinks throughout the show plus a cocktail bar just outside the cinema door, hot food available during intermission, comfy leather armchairs with plenty of personal space, and a room (half) full of Western Sydney film lovers, you’re in for a great night. Tickets are FREE and open to everyone, though seats are limited to 150 only.

AUDIENCE VOTES: At the end of each show, we’re calling on you to CAST YOUR VOTE for your favourite film! We’ll award the highly coveted Audience Choice Award on the night and then ALL finalist films are in the running for our inaugural People’s Choice Award. All winners will be announced to the public after the online festival.

MAKE IT A NIGHT: Parking is FREE after 6pm at the cinema and seeing as we know that the cocktails will be flowing, we’ve arranged a 15% discount for online bookings with Quest Liverpool Serviced Apartments -- watch this space because we’ll be giving you the discount code next week!! How good is that!? No worrying about the last train home or spending $$$ on an uber. You’re welcome friends.

We can’t wait for festival week!!
