We’ve been working hard behind the scenes making some big plans for Made in the West 2022 alongside some wonderful sponsors, who we reckon deserve a huge shout out!
Help us spread the word about these local heroes! They’re putting their money where their mouth is – in full support of Western Sydney Film!
We’re thrilled because by backing Made in the West they are also telling EVERYONE that they believe in our local film community and the many talented, creative filmmakers who are doing amazing work here out west.
Getting local business and industry on board is a big part of what we’re up to: raising the profile of Western Sydney, celebrating artists from our local region and showcasing the authentic stories and twisted tales that are the artistic brainchilds of our awesome filmmaking community.
Today’s major sponsors are just the first in a long line of prize sponsors still to be announced this week – stay tuned for more!! We’re so thankful for all of their support.
So let's all say a giant, collective THANK YOU to these wonderful humans / organisations / believers by repaying the favour -- check out their websites, give them a big thumbs up on socials, and think of them first next time you need help with a shoot, your next film screening, your latest qualification, or connecting with artists across the region.
Please put your hands together for…
EVENT CINEMAS LIVERPOOL
Event Cinemas is a HUGE supporter of the Western Sydney film community, providing us with a dedicated space in their V-max cinema to screen locally made films - on a Saturday night, no less! Every year we pinch ourselves thinking about how amazing it is that we can screen our Western Sydney-made line-up at Event Cinemas in such a great space with theatre-style seating for 330 people, digital projection and a fully licensed private cocktail bar. Check out their hire packages for your next screening!
To top it all off, they’ve got a fantastic team that is committed to working with Made in the West and supporting the local film community. We love Event Cinemas Liverpool and we can’t wait to bring the festival to life with them this year – it’s going to be great!
WESTERN SYDNEY UNIVERSITY
WSU School of Humanities and Communications Arts has signed on again this year as our Gold+ Screen Sponsor and their contribution to the festival means SO much to Made in the West and the work we do connecting and celebrating the local film industry. WSU has been working with the team at Made in the West this year to provide industry experience and connections for students in their popular Creative Industries and Communication Arts degrees.
WSU students Van Le and Alex Hon are working with us right now on Marketing and Publicity Internships, and design student Catie Boffa recently won our 2022 poster competition. We also produced our latest episode of Made in the West TV in their TV studio, and we were stoked to work with an all WSU student & alumni crew, and Screen Media student Luke Hodge who took on our associate producer role.
If you are a WSU student and you want to work with us as a camera assistant or FOH usher at the festival this year, send us an email!
LUKE WALKER PRODUCTIONS
Luke Walker Productions is a friend of the festival and a massive supporter of Made in the West. We’re SUPER excited that this year the team at LWP will be back on the red carpet helping us capture all the glitz and glamour of our festival event! We love seeing Western Sydney filmmakers shine and with Luke’s amazing cameras, lights and expertise, he and his crew will be capturing all the excitement of the festival for our online audience AND our red carpet highlights. Hooray!
And the cherry on top of that amazing donation? Luke Walker is also contributing an amazing DOP package to our prize haul this year, for the 2022 Best in the West trophy winner!! We are thankful to Luke for his ongoing support and we love his work. You can check out the Luke Walker Productions online portfolio here.
STILL SEARCHIN' PRODUCTIONS
Still Searchin' Productions are the team that plan, promote and produce Made in the West each year, sponsoring the event costs and all filmmaker awards. We are strong advocates for Western Sydney filmmakers and it is our pleasure to uplift and amplify the many talented artists who call Western Sydney home. Last year was our 10th anniversary festival – we had so much fun!
SSP knows that Western Sydney films deserve to be seen and celebrated on a national stage (and across the world!), so this year we were thrilled to be able to make that happen with our third annual Online Film Festival. We’re ramping things up a notch this year too – stay tuned for an exciting announcement coming soon with our new summer festival plans!!
Since 2020, we have also been connecting our film community online, networking with Western Sydney filmmakers at our interactive online networking events – we love hosting them throughout the year! We always meet new creative people and it’s a real pleasure being part of such a vibrant and inspiring community. We’ve also been working on some new opportunities too – coming next year!
