SAVE THE DATE: Made in the West 2021

Made in the West is back for our TENTH annual film festival on Saturday 4 December 2021!!

Thanks to our wonderful venue sponsors at Event Cinemas, we’ll be returning to their awesome V-Max cinemas at Liverpool this year and we can’t wait!

We’re so pleased to be working alongside Event Cinemas to showcase the latest films made right here in the Western suburbs of Sydney. We’ll also be looking back on a decade of films and festival highlights from our favourite moments at Made in the West over the last ten years.

We’ve even got some special guests coming to town -- Made in the West #Royalty, if you will -- and we can’t wait to see them! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves…

The 2021 festival kicks off at 6pm on Saturday 4 December and WE. CANNOT. WAIT.

Strap yourselves in for a full night of short films made by local filmmakers, trophies & awards, cocktails and VIP service, plus a room full of filmmakers to meet and network with throughout the night. What more could we ask for??

Let’s think back to last year’s festival -- there we were at Event Cinemas in the massive 3-storey high V-max cinemas with surround sound, bubble seating with our pals in big leather arm chairs, not to mention the private bar and in-cinema VIP drinks, being snapped by the paps on the red carpet, and of course those kick-ass finalist films up on screen!

We feel so grateful that we were able to host the festival at all last year, let alone in-person at two screenings AND online one week later! Not only did we get to welcome our friends back to the cinema in a Covid-safe way, but we got to share Western Sydney films across more screens than ever before!

The 2020 double cinema screening was a hoot!! With a red carpet premiere & awards night in one cinema and a 3-hour short film marathon in the other, the excitement level was through the roof! There were interviews with filmmakers on the red carpet, two hosts on the mic’s inside, and with the help of Luke Walker Productions we captured the night on film and put it out there for the world to enjoy.

As a result, Made in the West Film Festival reached across Australia to the shores of WA, then on to the UK, EU and USA, attracting over 120 votes from viewers around the world for the inaugural People's Choice Award.

We remember 2020 as the year Western Sydney shone bright in the dark. Made in the West received so many amazing films from local filmmakers who showed their creative spark even during a global lockdown, and pulled together a wonderful team of people who worked together to make it happen, even in the most difficult of circumstances for live festivals and events.

Will we be able to do it again? Will the planets align to see us pack the cinema full of film lovers this year?? We certainly hope so.

On behalf of the Still Searchin’ Productions team and the whole Western Sydney filmmaking community, we’d like to thank the management and team at Event Cinemas in Liverpool for being so supportive and welcoming of Western Sydney filmmakers and local indie films. Their mission to support the local community and bring our stories to the big screen is pretty impressive.

We are absolutely thrilled to be working alongside them to grow Western Sydney film audiences and develop community support for our local film scene.

Good luck with your creative projects this year Western Sydney! We look forward to screening your latest masterpieces in December.
