Made in the West is a celebration of Western Sydney on the big screen. This year we are celebrating our 9th year and we’re proud to showcase hundreds of filmmakers from across Western Sydney and the original and authentic stories being told in our local region.
Made in the West 2020 will host a one-night-only digital festival event and an exclusive live in-person (as long as the Covid-safe restrictions allow) red carpet cinema event, so we will have some exciting new plans to announce soon! We're working with our good friends at EVENT Cinemas to plan a Covid-safe event for you all and we’re thrilled to have the support of such a fantastic cinema venue in the West.
We are just as excited as ever for the chance to screen Western Sydney films on their HUGE Vmax cinema screens at Liverpool with a full DCP and surround sound.
SUBMIT YOUR FILM and be part of the 2020 festival!
Premiere screening and awards night tickets will be reserved for filmmakers only... yet another reason to enter your film this year!
As always, films entered in the festival will be judged by a panel of industry professionals. Finalists will compete for trophies including the Best in the West Award (for best indie film of the year), Best Student Film and the highly coveted Audience Choice Award.
Individual category prizes for Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Sound Design and Best Original Score will be at the filmmaker awards night on Saturday 21 November.
In 2019, Made in the West Film Festival awarded more than $10,000 worth of prizes, including coaching and mentoring sessions with some of Sydney’s best filmmakers, camera and equipment rental, studio and edit suite hire, professional photo shoots and business workshops. The 2020 Made in the West Film Festival is going to be bigger and better than ever – submit your short film today to be in the running!
We can't wait to see what you've been up to, Western Sydney.
