We’re TEN YEARS YOUNG this year and we’re SO BLOODY EXCITED for what 2021 has in store - not only for the festival, but also for you, the brilliant and bold filmmaking community of Western Sydney!
To commemorate our 10th birthday, we’ve been working on a special project with a team of student designers from Burrow, Western Sydney University’s award-winning design studio.
With their insane technical talent and illustration skills, we’ve created something so inconceivably momentous… it’s Made in the West MAGAZINE!

This 28-page full colour work of ART features augmented reality elements - it will literally burst out of the page and come to life in your hands.
Take a deep dive into our festival history, from our beginnings at The Roxy to the wonder years at The Paddo RSL and our move to Event Cinemas.
There are interviews with well-known filmmakers, a winners’ almanac featuring every award winner in our ten year history, a poster archive of our amazing artwork since 2012 and a moving picture gallery full of our favourite red-carpet memories.
It is a very special tribute to everyone who has been involved with the festival - every person who submitted a film or walked the red carpet to support those in our community.

If you have made a short film (under 15 minutes) that features cast, crew or locations from Western Sydney, you are eligible to submit your film. All genres and types of content are welcome, from documentaries and music videos, to animation, drama series, web series episodes, sci-fi and horror.
Made in the West is a celebration of Western Sydney cast, crew and locations on the big screen. Enter your film and join Western Sydney filmmakers on the red carpet!
We've got prizes and awards for Best in the West (indie film), Best Student Film and the highly coveted Audience Choice Award.
There are individual category awards too, for Best Director, Editor, Cinematographer, Sound Design, Original Score, Screenwriting and Actor/Actress. PLUS this year, we’re adding two more awards to the swag: Best Music Video and Best Production Design will join the prize list for the first time!
We’ve seen you do some amazing things in these categories already, Western Sydney, so here’s your chance to keep shining and snatch the recognition you so rightly deserve!
Of course we’re working hard to bring you a Covid-safe event - whatever that may look like. Festival planning during a pandemic is hard! But what makes it easier is remembering why we’re here -- to connect our community and celebrate our creative film work.
We’ve got some exciting ideas, but at this stage we're not entirely sure what this year’s festival will look like - we’ll just have to wait and see how things turn out! But there’s one thing we CAN promise you for sure - it’s going to be one heck of a party!
We’re looking forward to celebrating with you in December.
