Made in the West is now open for submissions!
If you’ve made a short film that features cast, crew or locations from Western Sydney and is under fifteen minutes in duration, you are eligible to submit your film. All genres and types are welcome, from documentaries and music videos, to animation, drama series, web series episodes, sci-fi and horror.

Made in the West is a celebration of Western Sydney on the big screen. Now in our 8th year, we’re proud to celebrate filmmakers from across Western Sydney, showcasing the original and authentic stories being made in the region.
Made in the West 2019 will be hosted at EVENT Cinemas, Liverpool. We’re thrilled to have the support of such a fantastic cinema venue in the West and we can’t wait to screen Western Sydney films on their HUGE Vmax cinema screen with full digital cinema package and surround sound.
Films will be judged by a panel of industry professionals. Finalists compete for trophies including the Best in the West Award, Best Student Film and the ever-popular Audience Choice Award. Individual category prizes for Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Sound Design and Best Original Score will be awarded throughout the night.
In 2018, Made in the West Film Festival awarded more than $15,000 worth of prizes, including coaching and mentoring sessions with some of Western Sydney’s best filmmakers, camera and equipment rental, studio and edit suite hire, professional photo shoots and business workshops. The 2019 festival is going to be bigger and better than ever – submit your short film today to be in the running!
